Crimes that can lead to deportation of resident aliens

The Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 — and a series of other changes to immigration law have expanded the list of crimes that can make a legal immigrant deportable.  This includes crimes that are considered misdemeanors under State law but have become felonies under immigration law.  Felonies make legal immigrants eligible for deportation.  Those convicted of aggravated felonies under immigration law are not eligible to become US citizens.  For example, writing a bad check could be considered a misdemeanor under criminal law but can be considered an aggravated felony under immigration law if the statute provides for a sentence of one year in jail even if the person was not in jail for a year.  For information regarding Immigration bonds please call Penny Bail Bonds anytime at 1-866-736-6977 or visit us at http://www.pennybailbonds.com or http://thebailbondstore.com
